There is no need to leave home when it comes to takeaways, adapt your favourite takeaway recipes and make it at home, you can make it special by using original ideas to create a magnificent dish.
Fish and Chips
Batter
- 1 egg
- 4 ounces of water(beat)
- add 1 cup of flour
- 1 teaspoons of baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
Chips
You can either deep fry your chips, or oven bake them, whichever you prefer, but once it is all cooked, serve in individual wrapped newspaper with a piece of greaseproof paper in the middle, and sauce on the side.
Pizza's
You can be as original with your toppings as you would like, but from this basic pizza dough you can create any type of pizza
- 2 cups of flour
- 2 tsp of baking powder
- Salt & Pepper
- 1/2 cup of oil
- 1/2 cup of milk
- Spaghetti
- Bacon
- Cheese
- Pineapple
- Corn
- Cheese
- Mushrooms
- Salami
- Ham
- Chicken
- Cranberries
- Olives
- Vegetables
Hot dogs
Roll saveloy's in a small amount of cornflour ( this helps the batter to stick ) and then dip into batter (as above for recipe) and deep fry.
Chips

Homemade KFC
This is the closest recipe I have that suits our tastes and complements KFC mixture
Mix together
- 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs
- 1 cup of flour
- 3 teaspoons of chicken stock
- 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon of curry powder
Cook at 180 degrees Celsius for 1 to 1 & 1/2 hours
Serve with chips see recipe above and some homemade coleslaw or bean salad.
Hamburgers
Burger mixture
- Mince
- Onions
- Tomato or Sweet Chili sauce
- Mixed Herbs
- Salt & pepper
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder ( holds Pattie together while cooking)
- 1 egg
- A few breadcrumbs if mix is too wet
Cook patties in a medium frying pan with a little oil, while these are cooking get you salad ingredients ready
and start to cook your chips, either way is fine see above for recipe

- Pickles
- Beetroot
- Gherkins
- Mushrooms
- Dressing
- Sauces
Grill Burger buns and assemble burgers, these are very Moorish and my boys used to eat two.
