It Is The Thought That Counts... Gifts Made From Home With Love

Gifts made from home with love

We have all experienced someone, celebrating at a time when you have no money to spare, so a present made with love is the way to go, everyone can take one of these ideas and roll with it, and create something spectacular.

Sometimes we only need to give something small, so there are some great sites out there on the WWW Webb where you can design for free a gift from the heart

  • Make a Printable Birthday Card & Envelope
  • Make an E Card and electronically send it out
  • Design a  personalised bookmark
  • Design and Personalise a special key ring ( these need to be done well ahead of time, with coupons the key ring is free but you will need to pay the postage)
  • Create a personalised pen just for that person ( again you may have to pay post)
  • Create a visual bouquet of flowers, including vase, ribbon and hand slotted card and email out to the person, so that when they open their in box it jumps out at them.
The list is endless really, if you're willing to search, there are quite a few great sites, that you can punch in.
I will let your fingers do the walking otherwise I'm advertising for them.

Sometimes we need to make our gift a little more personal, so with a bit of help from Mr Google you can come up with all sorts of goodies to hand make and give out.
  • Fudges
  • Sweets
  • Sherbet

But I like to be a little more creative, and cater to the individual, the gifts sometimes can cost nothing, other times they may cost a maximum of $5-$10 plus you time.

Flowers

Everyone has someone they know that has flowers in their garden, ask if they mind if you take some, and be creative, it takes you time, and a bit of green stuff from the garden centre, and a ribbon.

Herbs

Another good gift, simple, elegant, easy to make up, and can be jazzed up in a basket or bowl the choice is yours.

Gifts

A recipe in a jar

This is an idea that I use a lot, and its always something that is well received.
Give clear instructions on the recipe label, what else they have to add to complete the assembly and cooking instruction, and you're done.
The recipe can be as simple or as complicated as you like, its up to you.

Coffee Lover

Find a terrific mug in a marked down special and make up these recipes to go with it.
Place in a lovely jar with a ribbon and cellophane together with the mug.

Cappuccino mix - 1/2 cup good quality instant coffee, 1/2 - 3/4 cup Castor sugar (depending on strength of coffee), 1 cup instant nonfat milk powder, 1 teaspoon cinnamon - combine in food processor until well blitzed, wait for dust to settle and put in airtight container, use 2 tablespoons per cup of hot water.

Cafe Au La it Mix - 1/2 cup good quality instant coffee, 1/2 cup Castor sugar (depending on strength of coffee), 2 cups instant non-fat milk powder, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, mix as above and use 1/4 cup of mixture for each 2/3 cup hot water. Swiss Mocha Mix - 1/2 cup instant coffee, 1/2 cup Castor sugar  1 cup nonfat milk powder, 2 tablespoons cocoa, mix as above and use 1 Tablespoon per 3/4 cup hot water

Apron made with love

For young or for old, there is always something simple you can make up, I have a sewing machine and from cutting out to finishing this would take 1/2 an hour to put together.
You can be a basic or as creative as you like, just cut a pattern off an apron you already have and then individualise it for the person you are giving it too.
There are heaps of cheap things available from craft shops.
Here is an idea for a child's one I have made before.

Chocolate Lover

Ok I have three ideas for chocolate lovers is to make up,

Personalize a chocolate bar for that person, buy a king size bar from the supermarket, and design a cover for it, like these ones

or another idea is make up a slogan like these ones.

Chocolate Bar Message

A chocolate bar message is a sweet surprise to someone on their birthday, and won't cost you an arm and a leg. Head to the candy store to buy chocolate bars that might have alternate meanings. Choose chocolate bars like "Snickers", "Almond Joy", "Take 5", and "Special". Then you can use a large piece of poster board to write a birthday message, using those candy bar names as words in the message, such as, "I hope you don't [Snicker], but I wanted to [Take 5] minutes to tell you just how [Special] I think you are. You bring me such [Almond Joy]".

Tape the chocolate bars · where the words should be, and then present the chocolate bar message to the lucky recipient.

These are american ones but we have
Snickers (I hope you won't "Snicker" at your 5oth Birthday present)
Old Gold (now that you are "old gold")
Moro (wishing you "moro" time to go fishing)
Bounty (and hope you catch huge "bounty" from the sea)
Crunchy (When it comes to the "crunchy" your the best)
Mars (you go could to "Mars" & not find someone as special as you)
Lifesavers (you were a real "life saver" when....)
Just ideas but you get the drift.

Chocolate Dipped Spoons

This is a cool idea and they can be made ahead of time, so you always have some to spare
you can give with the above coffee recipe or just give on there own, its your choice, but easy to make and you can use what's on hand at the time of creation

Music

Sharing the gift of music is an awesome gift as everyone loves music, the key is to know what music they like.
There are plenty of sites on the internet than you can use to make up cd's, whether you stick to one band or jazz it up, make up a personalised cd cover and give a gift of music

Food

Give the gift of food, by simple ideas

  • Cook and deliver a home cooked meal
  • Bake a cake
  • Make some cookies
  • Give Homemade preserves
  • Make some sweets
All can then be dressed up with ribbons and cellophane and they will be impressed.

Homemade Gift Vouchers

Now you can be as thoughtful or as original as you would like to be depending on who is receiving this voucher.
It could be for your husband, then it can be very original !!
Or for a friend, a few ideas are

  • Sober driver for the night
  • A week's baking
  • Sew a patch on your holey jeans
  • Weeding your garden voucher
  • One home cooked meal
  • I will bring the movie & the popcorn, you name the place & time.
  • 1 Hair Dye voucher, you say when and I'm there to do it for you
  • Home style pedicure or manicure

An endless variety of things that could be used.

I'm sure out of all the things listed there must be one thing that you can take from here and use it as a individualised gift for a friend or loved one.

I am a sales aholic, I love to visit sales and stock up for presents for rainy days, I have a present box under one of my spare beds,  and all year round I collect items for it and then at a pinch when I need a gift in a hurry, I rummage through it to see if I can find the perfect thing, or otherwise I give a gift of love and make something from above.
Which ever I chose I know that they are well received.
